What Sade Sati is
Sade Sati — "the seven and a half" — is the stretch while Saturn transits the three signs around your natal Moon: the 12th (rising phase), the 1st (peak, Saturn directly over the Moon) and the 2nd (setting). Saturn takes about two and a half years per sign, so the whole arc runs roughly seven and a half years.
It keys off your Moon sign in the sidereal zodiac — not your Sun sign, and not a Western tropical Moon sign, which is usually one sign further on. Saturn in the 4th or 8th from the Moon is a different transit (kantaka and ashtama shani, together called dhaiya) that is very often mislabelled as Sade Sati.

How this is computed
From Saturn's actual sidereal position, via the Swiss Ephemeris, using the Pushya-paksha ayanamsa — stated because the ayanamsa is exactly what different tools disagree about, and a different one can move Saturn's sign boundary by days. Ingress dates are found by bisection to about a minute. No language model computes any of it.
